The spirit of every form that manifests in the earth's field -is first a potent emptiness, It is there and whole before anything appears as a bud, or sprout, spore, or funghi. Those beginning tendrils have to be tough to survive, and yet they are also incredibly fragile. Slender grasses can penetrate the thick asphalt of a roadbed, pines and redwood trees root from small seeds in the cracks of granite ledges, and grow tall enough to shatter solid rock as their roots gradually expand. This is Yin power - steady, persistent, slow - the great feminine principle at work. This is the enduring power pulsing in every new blade of bright green grass.
